Dr. Reza Jarrahy is a Board Certified plastic surgeon who specializes in pediatric craniofacial reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery of the face, breast, and body. Dr. Jarrahy received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and his medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He completed his general surgery training at New York University Medical center and at the University of California San Diego Medical Center. After finishing his Plastic Surgery Residency and Craniofacial Surgery Fellowship in the prestigious Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at UCLA, Dr. Jarrahy joined the full-time faculty at UCLA as an Assistant Professor. He also serves as Assistant Chief of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center and Assistant Director of the Cleft Palate program at UCLA Orthopedic Hospital. He also participates in the care of craniofacial patients at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and Shriners Hospital for Children Los Angeles.

Dr. Jarrahy takes care of patients with rare and complicated craniofacial disorders who come to UCLA from all over the nation and the world. He also travels abroad on an annual basis to assist in the care of craniofacial patients at a sister craniofacial unit in Brazil. He sits on the Board of Directors and Medical Board of Facing Forward, a non-profit organization that assists patients with congenital craniofacial disorders to obtain medical and surgical care. He is also a member of multiple notable medical and surgical societies.

Dr. Jarrahy is actively involved in ongoing basic science and clinical research. He spent three years during his training dedicated exclusively to research. He has authored many peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and has been invited to speak at numerous national and international conferences. His current basic science research focus is in tissue engineering of bone, geared toward developing a bone graft substitute to facilitate the care of patients who have bone loss from congenital, traumatic, or surgical causes.

In addition to craniofacial surgery, Dr. Jarrahy’s other areas of clinical interest and expertise include cosmetic surgery procedures of the face and neck, breasts, and body, such as facial rejuvenation, rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, and body contouring. He also applies his attention to detail in minimally invasive techniques such as fat grafting, filler injection and skin resurfacing.
